Yet in many organizations our processes are designed to operate in a push manner. Once work is done it is pushed to the next operation, whether it is needed there or not. And much like trying to push on a rope, this manner of operating isn't a very effective way to get the outcomes we need to meet our customers' requirements.
Pushing material and information through processes results in lots of problems and non-value added activities. Sometimes there is too much materials and information, sometimes there is too little. And frequently, what is pushed is not even needed at all! Working this way can also have a negative impact on quality, cost, space, inventory and the ability to meet customer delivery dates.
In this 30-minute DVD you will be introduced to the concept of "pulling" work through processes while using "Kanban methods (signals) so customers and suppliers in a value stream can be effectively linked and synchronized in a simple, visual manner - providing a powerful way to match supply to demand to the right materials and information is always available.
